I have a background in science and the arts and am interested in removing legal obstacles to scientific advancements and
in enabling the arts and sciences to flourish. The more complex the issue, the more determined I am to find a solution.
Copyrights
Litigated the first digital copyright case to be decided by the United States Supreme Court.

Trademarks
Bass has counselled clients on a wide variety of trademark issues: issues as to which of several trademarks has priority under the law, the extent of trademark usage, the intersection of trademark and copyright law, UDRP (Uniform Domain Name Resolution Policy) procedures, PTO proceedings, issues pertaining to licensing, trademark infringement, whether trademark law protects characters or expression that have fallen into the public domain under copyright law, digital rights issues, etc.
Bass has also handled trademark litigation on behalf of a major company with offices throughout the United States.
International Law
Schooled in both private and public international law, these days, Bass is particularly interested in assisting clients with international arbitrations and handling high-end litigation that involves complex issues.
Issues of particular interest: issues of sovereign immunity, act of state, forum non conveniens, the fashioning of arbitration clauses, questions pertaining to arbitrability and the issue of who decides arbitrability, combatting attempts to transform stream-lined arbitration processes into the equivalent of lengthy and complex litigation.
Bass spent over ten years handling litigation on behalf of an overseas airline and complex issues pertaining to sovereign entities.
Labor and Employment
Bass has negotiated collective bargaining agreements and handled unfair labor practice proceedings, grievances and arbitrations and administrative proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, Public Employment Relations Board, Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings ("OATH"), New York State Labor Relations Board, EEOC, NY Division of Human Rights and New York City Commission on Human Rights. She has also represented individuals and labor unions in court.
She was outside counsel to the Civil Service Technical Guild, Local 375, AFSCME, for some ten years and has represented and/or negotiated on behalf of numerous unions, e.g.: Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1202, National Writers' Union, United Auto Workers Union, American Federation of Government Employees, and District 1199Mass, National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees, etc. She has also represented and/or counselled professors and members of various faculties, technical employees in the arts and media, authors, photographers, health care workers, ironworkers, flight attendants, and brokers.
In sum, Bass has practised labor law in all four sectors: the private sector (under the National Labor Relations Act); the public sector (on behalf of state, county and municipal employees); the railway labor sector (on behalf of rail and airline employees), and the federal sector.
As a result, she has extensive knowledge of wage and hour laws, the Equal Pay Act ("EPA"), Family and Medical Leave Act ("FMLA"), NLRA, RLA, state and federal anti-discrimination laws, a wide number of collective bargaining agreements, labor standards and work rules.
Constitutional Law
Bass has wide-ranging knowledge and experience with respect to: Commerce Clause issues, "takings" issues, the Supremacy Clause, the Full Faith & Credit Clause, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, federal-state relations, sovereign immunity and preemption.
